Last week’s release of Action Comics<\/i> #1000<\/a><\/b>, the first North American comic book to reach that number in serial publication since Dell’s Four Color<\/i> #1000 (see listings for it on eBay)<\/a>\u00a0(<\/b>\u00a0in 1959, made a huge splash on the latest Diamond Comic Distributors<\/b> reorder charts \u2014 and naturally, retailers stocked up on Infinity Gauntlet<\/i><\/b> in advance of Avengers: Infinity War.<\/a><\/i><\/b> First we’ll\u00a0<\/b>look first at how the books already in stores fared, and move on to the future:<\/div>\n

These are items that have already shipped, but have been receiving additional orders from retailers. In most cases below, the items are in stock and so the orders are being filled; occasionally items are back-ordered, so their reorders will enter into the channel once they become available.<\/p>\n

These are ranked by invoiced dollars, so retailers’ discounts have already applied to the totals before ranking.<\/p>\n

Action Comics <\/i>#1000<\/a><\/b> was the top reordered comic; as noted, it came out on April 18. Diamond reports that it is still in stock for reorders. Six of the variant versions also made the reorder Top 25, in the following order: 1930s<\/b><\/a>, 1940s<\/a>, 1990s<\/a>, 1960s<\/a>, 2000s<\/a>, <\/b>and 1950s<\/a>. <\/b>The 1970s Jim Steranko <\/b>variant is reported as out of stock, and the 1980s variant’s stocking level is marked as low.<\/p>\n

The top hardcover was once again DC’s\u00a0Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman<\/b><\/a><\/i>\u00a0hardcover, which previously had topped the advance reorder charts. It released in shops April 11. Diamond reports that it’s still in stock as of today, but remaining quantities are low. A much more expensive hardcover, the Superman: Exile and Other Stories Omnibus<\/a><\/i><\/b> placed third. It shipped April 11 as well.<\/p>\n

And \u2014 no surprise \u2014 the\u00a0Infinity Gauntlet<\/a><\/i><\/b>\u00a0trade paperback repeated yet again as the top reordered softcover; the book wound up 17th overall in the charts for\u00a0March<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>and is likely to improve on that with the movie releasing this week.<\/p>\n

We have to go to 12th place among reorders to find the first non-Action comic book:\u00a0Amazing Spider-Man<\/i> #799<\/b>, which went on sale April 18. (See listings for it on eBay.<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
