The final comics sales charts for December have been released by Diamond Comic Distributors<\/b><\/a>, and as reported here<\/b><\/a> on Friday, Batman<\/a><\/b><\/i> #37<\/b><\/a>
\nfrom DC as the top-selling comic book of the month. Comichron estimates that the issue finished with orders of more

\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/CCBat37\"And as noted last week, Batman<\/i> #37 was probably not the
\nhighest-circulation comic book in North America for December, given that
\nthe previous issue, Batman<\/i> #36<\/b><\/a>, was part of the December Loot Crate<\/b><\/a>
\n\u2014 and the numbers for that are not reflected in Diamond’s sales. The
\nprevious issue did not re-chart in December. (Diamond sold a Marvel<\/b>
\nand an Image<\/b> issue to Loot Crate earlier in the
\nyear, but it doesn’t seem to have been in the mix this time.)<\/p>\n

The Direct Market closed out the year up 4%, with all categories in positive territory overall \u2014 comics unit sales, just barely \u2014 but as <\/b>expected, the graphic novel subcategories were down quite a bit in December, given
\nthat the comparative month from 2013 was so bizarre: the Top 300 Graphic
\nNovels category vaulted
\nover the $10 million mark that month due to a lot of graphic novel
\ndiscounting going on this month.
