{"id":4658,"date":"2015-01-03T00:24:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-03T00:24:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2020-08-01T14:38:16","modified_gmt":"2020-08-01T19:38:16","slug":"san-francisco-chronicle-comic-shops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comichron.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/03\/san-francisco-chronicle-comic-shops\/","title":{"rendered":"San Francisco Chronicle: Comic shops thriving"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: right;\"><\/div>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t linked to many mainstream press articles in a number of years, but I am pleased to share this piece from today&#8217;s <b>San Francisco Chronicle<\/b> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/bayarea\/article\/Comic-book-shops-thrive-not-just-survive-in-S-F-5989564.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>bounceback of the comics retail industry<\/b><\/a> in that region.<\/p>\n<p>Not simply because of its thesis, which I agree with, but also because it&#8217;s a bit of a reunion of the crew from the late <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Comics_%26_Games_Retailer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><b>Comics &amp; Games Retailer<\/b><\/i><\/a> magazine, which I edited for many years.\u00a0<b>Brian Hibbs<\/b> wrote the &#8220;Tilting at Windmills&#8221; column, which was reprinted in <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/14iZlQX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>two<\/b><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1wLUE84\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>volumes<\/b><\/a> from IDW \u2014 and, of course, <b>Joe Field <\/b>was the mind behind<a href=\"http:\/\/www.freecomicbookday.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b> Free Comic Book Day<\/b><\/a>, which he <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.comichron.com\/2014\/04\/secret-origins-of-free-comic-book-day.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>initially suggested<\/b><\/a> in the pages of the magazine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I haven&#8217;t linked to many mainstream press articles in a number of years, but I am pleased to share this piece from today&#8217;s San Francisco Chronicle on the bounceback of the comics retail industry in that region.
