Click to see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comichron.com\/monthlycomicssales\/2014\/2014-01.html\"><b>comics sales estimates for January 2014.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The top seller for the month, <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/CCBat27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b><i>Batman<\/i> #27<\/b><\/a>, sold fewer copies than any monthly top-seller since <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comichron.com\/monthlycomicssales\/2011\/2011-05.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>May 2011<\/b><\/a>, before the DC relaunch. But while the second-place title, <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/CCDetec27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b><i>Detective Comics<\/i> #27<\/b><\/a> (boy, that issue sounds familiar) sold more than 87,000 copies to Batman&#8217;s more than 115,000, it cost twice as much, and thus was by far the biggest comic book in dollar terms in the month.<\/p>\n<p>Comics shops sold nearly $39 million worth of comic books and graphic novels in January, off 5% from<b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comichron.com\/monthlycomicssales\/2012\/2012-12.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">last January<\/a><\/b>.<br \/>\nComic book dollar orders were essentially unchanged, but the graphic<br \/>\nnovel category dropped against difficult competition from the previous<br \/>\nyear.<\/p>\n<p><b>RECORDS: <\/b>Thanks in part to the impact of <i>Detective<\/i> #27, the average price of all comics retailers ordered within the Top 300 was $3.77, the highest ever.
