In advance of the larger releases of its December and 2012 year-end sales tables, Diamond Comic Distributors<\/b> has released a sneak peek<\/b><\/a> at the topline figures for the year.<\/p>\n

Comic shop orders for comic books and graphic novels reportedly increased by 14.72% over 2011. This would bring the year in at nearly $475 million \u2014 in line with previous estimates here at Comichron<\/b><\/i> \u2014 and an increase of more than $60 million for the year. Note that this figure does not include comics and graphic novels sold through bookstore and newsstand channels, which adds another $200 million or so \u2014 nor does it include digital sales, which are reported to be in excess of $75 million this year.<\/p>\n

Walking Dead <\/b><\/i>managed the unusual feat, as well, of topping both the comics and graphic novel lists in the same year.<\/div>\n
