{"id":5518,"date":"2010-01-22T16:48:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-22T16:48:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2020-08-01T18:35:05","modified_gmt":"2020-08-01T23:35:05","slug":"2009-end-of-year-sales-revised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comichron.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/22\/2009-end-of-year-sales-revised\/","title":{"rendered":"2009 end-of-year sales revised"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: right;\"><\/div>\n<p>With more complete publisher information available, we&#8217;ve revised the final estimates for comics, trade paperback, and magazine orders placed through Diamond in <b>December 2009<\/b> \u2014 and thus, for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comichron.com\/monthlycomicssales\/2009.html\"><b>the entire year:<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>OVERALL DIAMOND SALES (including all comics, trades, and magazines)<\/b><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.comichron.com\/monthlycomicssales\/2009\/2009-12.html\"><b>December 2009:<\/b><\/a> $35.67 million<br \/>\nVersus 1 year ago this month: -10%<br \/>\nVersus 5 years ago this month: +17%<br \/>\n4th Quarter 2009: $104.81 million, -9% versus 4Q 2008<br \/>\n2009 YEAR-END: Approximately $429.67 million, -2% vs. 2008, +30% vs. 2004<\/p>\n<p>The small upward revision isn&#8217;t enough to help 2009 catch up with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comichron.com\/monthlycomicssales\/2008.html\"><b>2008<\/b><\/a>, but we are now almost in line with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comichron.com\/monthlycomicssales\/2007.html\"><b>2007<\/b><\/a>. As noted in our <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.comichron.com\/2010\/01\/top-500-comics-trades-for-2009-with.html\"><b>end-of-year report<\/b><\/a> and its comments section, there&#8217;s a somewhat larger margin of error associated with the Overall statistic this year.
