September 1998 was unique in that DC ran its "DC One Million" promotion, in which the supposed millionth issues of each series appeared.

While solicited for this month, top five books Danger Girl #5 and and Battle Chasers #5 did not come out from Image, due to Wildstorm's sale to DC. The books would chart again in February. The orders shown below were cancelled. February's orders would be lower, a consequence of the time of year and fewer retailers being around.

Diamond did release dollar rankings for the Top 250 comics; these will be added at a later date.
